We have begun measuring the activity of our local Greater Horseshoe Bat colony with the help of a wonderful customer Mark Thomas, who has loaned us a bat detector for a few months. It looks like there are 4 species of bat using the moat near the cafe.
We are also undertaking a number of surveys of light and sound coming from the cafe at night (with and without cafe activities), and of the number of people coming into and out of the fort during the evenings.
We hope that this data will help us to gain consent for evening activities beyond sunset in the future. Thanks to Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust and Nexgen Wind for their support.
We will post an update when we have the first results!
In the meantime we have a few more evening events in the next few weeks while sunset is still late enough – please see our events page if you would like more details.
