We were delighted over the Easter Weekend that despite the mud and bad weather several hundred children still turned out to participate in our annual Easter Egg Hunt. Many thanks for your generous donations – including some friendly souls who simply wanted to help and didn’t take part in the egg hunt – we raised £470 for repairs to Shoalstone…
Single use takeaway packaging is terrible for the world. Recently David Attenborough has helped us focus on the issues of plastic waste; our particular bugbear is takeaway cups, as each year in the UK along we throw away 2.5 billion, and almost every one ends up in landfill.

Dani has created an incredible autumn menu for the Guardhouse this year. Every dish is incredible! From parsnip, potato and porcini gratin, to Autumn hash with poached eggs, to wild mushrooms on sourdough toast, we can promise there is something to delight you on your next visit….
Winter is nearly here, and with it the dreaded clock change. As usual we will begin closing a little earlier than usual – but once again we will remain open every day through the winter (except Christmas Day).
From Monday, October 30th until Friday, February 9th 2018 our opening hours will be
9am – 4pm
Hot food will be served until 3:15pm.
Our evening events make a return in November (after the end of the Greater Horseshoe Bat breeding season!). The evenings will be Fridays, November 3rd, 10th and 17th.
