Recent awards success

Feb 9, 2016

This winter we have been repeatedly humbled and amazed by success in tourism awards. In November we won the Gold award for “best cafe / tearoom of 2015” at the Devon tourism awards. That award was down to the amazing hard work, customer focus and improvement mindsets within our wonderful team. We can’t believe we really are the best cafe in the county but it was a proud moment for the judges to announce that they thought we were.

But then things have started to get really silly. Last week, in a grand event in Exeter Cathedral, we won a Bronze award in the “Taste of the South West” awards – this is open to all food establishments in the South West of England and was won last year by 2-michelin-starred Nathan Outlaw, and this year by Michael Caines. To be included in such company is a very proud moment for all of us.

And now we have been shortlisted for the “Taste of England” awards as well, announced in March. One of the other competitors won Masterchef: the professionals last year! We are looking forward to another black tie event (this time in Blackpool) and will be flying the flag for Brixham and the South West!
