We were delighted to host two weddings on consecutive days in April.
The charming Yomi and Nick Stafford came across the Guardhouse during holidays in Brixham. They were looking for an informal venue in the area for a celebration after their ceremony at Torre Abbey and asked if we could help. We organised canapes, a huge Paella, cakes from our lovely cake maker Karen, plenty of prosecco and kegs of Bay’s Gold beer (their favourite). With help from a local florist we transformed the inside of the cafe, and the sun shone all day, creating the perfect welcome for their guests from Nigeria, London, Belgium and the local area. Wow they really know how to party!
And then it was Vicky’s turn!
Vicky has been working with us for over a year and married her new husband Lee the very next day. After their wedding and a family meal at the lovely Shoals on the Lido, they came up to the cafe for the evening party. Great fun was had by all, especially our staff dancing the night away, and their photographer who came up with some truly inspired shots!
Are you looking for a wedding venue?
Our cafe is not your standard venue, but for a smaller informal venue we could be the perfect fit. The location and views certainly make for a memorable occasion!
Our capacity for private events is around 60 without being too squashed. We have a full license and can offer a wide range of food options, although our cooking facilities are more limited than larger venues and this does restrict what we can offer slightly. We work with our guests for weddings to develop an entirely bespoke event to suit the couple and their guests.
NB. Currently we are restricted to closing by sunset between April 16th and October 31st, in order to protect the rare Greater Horseshoe Bat colony living in the Berry Head quarry.
